race sunday

if a normal saturday training ride for me is 70-85 miles, really hard ,what do you think will be lost in leg speed and strength for a short 35 mile race sunday? normally, its the hard saturday, with sunday being a trainer day of an hour to spin and get the blood flowing in my legs. heart rate at 60%. just an ez hour spin. in this spin, i have heavy legs for the first 10 minutes then its all good for the last 50. training has been great all winter. just wondering about what kind of legs i'll have sunday. havent done back to back hard training this year yet. opinions?
thanks

How important is the race to you? If it's a "C" race, don't worry about it, you're doing it for training. If it's a "B", then do your easy ride saturday and your hard ride (the race) sunday. It won't hurt to switch the order of the rides. If it's an "A" race you should have been planning to peak and taper for it.

Although I don't disagree with what Eric said, I think this qualifies as an "if you have to ask, you shouldn't do it"

if you don't have enough experience to know how your body will react, and especially if it is your first race, take Saturday easy. The race will be harder than you could possibly imagine and you won't be doing yourself any favors by killing yourself the day before.
