Pain from front of thigh to lower back
Every so often I end up with a specific pain after a ride that lasts a week or so. The pain goes from my upper thigh, through my hip, around to my lower back/upper butt. I'm no anatomy expert, but I'm guessing there's a specific muscle or nerve or something that runs that route and is the source of the pain.
Anybody know the cause and the cure?

Me neither, but sounds like lower back. Try 600 mg ibuprofen. If that fixes it, almost for sure something getting swollen in your lower back. If you are a roadie, gotta be bike fit. A well-fitted road bike should be very little back strain.
You don't say how long you've been riding or how long or hard or frequent these rides are, or if you ride while in pain.

Sounds like a hip flexor (iliopsoas) issue. Try stretching them.
