You outdid umd & his fails<<< Whatever they mean.
Another one who hasn't read what I have said. So we must conclude you don't race, and haven't. Made perfectly clear a couple of times in previous posts, please read my messages. I did move on, its you thats stuck in the past. All I wanted to conclude to gregf83 was; If racing is significantly more intense than your training, you need to look at your training more closely.

Personally, and I don't think I'm unique, I find racing hard. I often want to quit in the first quarter or half of the race. When training I get to choose when and how long to go hard. During a race you often don't have a choice and need to respond with a hard efforts when you already at, or close to, your limit.
The races I've been in are approx 2 hrs and there is no soft pedalling in the middle of the peloton like you see on TV. Sucking wheel behind some pro riders for 1/2 hr during a feed break in the middle of a 6 hr race in the 12th of 22 stages is not racing.
Report back after you have a few races under your belt.

This is your problem.
What are the most important factors to improving cycling performance?.
The ones that aren't developed to the same levels as the ones that are.
I have been cycling for almost a decade & well read. I could have had lots of races under my belt, that would make very little difference in me being a help to you. You've been in races. Racing alone or my personal racing experience won't necessarily make you a faster cyclist.
You alone can only do that.

Ya know, last February the week before the ToC, a couple of my teammates were out for a spin when they happened to ride with Horner and Leipheimer for a few miles to stretch their legs. Since I can ride with my teammates, and since my teammates can ride with Chris and Levi, by the transitive theory I can ride with Chris and Levi. And since Chris and Levi can ride no problem in the TdF, logically I can ride no problem in the TdF.
Well done, me!

Was it a sanctioned "race?" I'm not sure where you live, but whatever country it is I'm sure has a racing sanctioning body (usac for example). If you can show us that it was an organized and sanctioned race (and which category you raced), then you will get the credit you deserved. But as others have stated (and I'm sure almost everyone on the board will agree with me here), what you described does not at all sound like a race. It doesn't count if it was just a race in your mind and a friendly group ride to everyone else.

A former Canadian masters champion I ride with was on a ride with Horner last Feb as well. He was at his limit going up a hill while Horner was comfortably riding and talking with one hand on his bars pushing a female rider up the hill with his other hand. A different league...

Yeah, on the flats too! A couple of years ago, when he was on Silence Lotto (or was it Predictor Lotto?) he was staying in Cool to train on the hills before the Tour de Suisse and TdF. One Saturday he rode down to Sacramento, absolutely destroyed the River Ride, and rode back up to Cool. Probably a 150 mile day with long portions of it over 30mph. Just another day at the office.

reminds me of guys who show up to a jam session and are all talking the talk but can't play ****.
They get humiliated the first time we play I got rhythm changes. Unless they are stupid or psychotic then they won't show up again.
Its like "dude, you are trying to share the stage with cats from wyntons band and if you can't understand that you are embarassing everyone then you are just dense.
But in this case, sure, I believe all of it. Really.

*****3nin.vend3t keep in mind that it's not the easy parts of pro racing that make it hard. The average speed is not what kills you, it's the maximum power. When you're on the wheel of someone who can hold 600W for 5 minutes, and decides to, you just plain won't be in the same pack any more. Enjoy your average speed on your own.
Just yell ahead to them that they're not going that fast, and that any trained cyclist can keep up with them. Those losers.

the sad part is
nobody who has responded to any of this drivel actually believes what he says. we know it's a troll, and not even a clever one.
the only reason we are playing along is
boredom.
put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Ah, I have to wait 'til Thursday...
It should be really easy though, because they're not pros, and I can draft at 27mph pretty easily.
You won, right? Easy, huh?
