Training Peaks Alternative

I've used Training Peaks for the last couple of years, but haven't been satisfied with the new version. I really liked the old "classic" one a lot better, so I thought this season, I may try something different. Do you guys have any suggestions for a similar web based training program?

Hi.

I decided to light up this old thread. I recently heard of Training peaks (TP), and have been trying it for a week and a half. The good-It is much more detailed on the workout functions that the others sites I have tried, such as myfitnesspal, and others. The bad-The site is incredibly crash prone and unreliable.

I searched the training and nutrition forum for TP, and was surprised that the most recent thread-this one-was over 2 years old (searching titles only). Does anyone else use it? Are the stability issues recent? I am considering getting the premium version, but don’t want to plop the cash if the company is in trouble, as the sever issues indicate they may be.

Golden Cheetah is free, runs on windows mac and linux, and there are no server issues or worries about your data disappearing when some site goes down.
The 3.0 release is real soon now and there are betas available.

Looked at both Golden Cheetah, and buckeyeoutdoors. Buckeye is pretty weak compared to TP, and neither Buckeye nor Golden Cheetah, which seems to be a very powerful training app, has nutrition tracking. I am looking for a site that does both. . . well. TP does both fairly well, but I have doubts about their longevity.

The downside of GC seems to be that it only uploads .srm powermeter files, not Garmin files. I've never had a problem with TP. Running Win7 and Chrome. True, I'd rather have the data on my machine, but I do save my GPX, TCX, and FIT files.

I use a Powertap G3, and all my files are uploaded to GC directly from my Garmin. I have the Edge 500 with the latest firmware and am using V3 of GC. Absolutely love it...especially since it's free. Does way more than I could ever need. The Performance Manager and Quadrant Analysis are especially useful in training....along with all the other user chosen metrics like normalized power and TSS.

How do Strava and Bikejournal.com fit into the picture? Are they still useful, or totally obsolete?
