Before or After
I want to start a weght training program with my cycling and I only have time to do it the same day I cycle and the question is, should I weight train before or after my ride ?

Either arrangement is a poor choice in terms of getting the most bang for your buck. Most trainers recommend resistance training before cardio, but some recommend the opposite. Both will put your body in a state of catabolism that will hinder your progress with the weight training in terms of body composition change and strength gains. So, if you must do it this way: either or. Doesn't matter.
IF you could find some way to split the resistance training from the cycling... then you would get more results for the effort that you put in. Something like... early morning: carb up, lift weights, protein + carb shake, normal daily activities and meals, then cycling in the evening, or something like that would be ideal. |
I would say before. You want to gain as much strength as possible, and fresh legs are important for this. Riding after lifting would make the ride a little harder, but that might be a good thing. Once your winter is over and you stop lifting, riding without the pain might seem a lot easier. You can always just lift hard and ride easy and you'll get the best of both worlds.
