Riding Your Bike When the days get shorter.

I work the standard Monday thru Friday week, I have a pretty flexable schedule its really about getting your work done. Anyway, Anyone have any creative ways to get out on the roads during the day?

Ride to work though the majority of my ride would be on a pretty busy road and would need lights, plus i bring workout clothes for strength training and would have to cart those back and fourth.

Lunch seems like a good time. I just need to get changed go out shower and change again. I could get a decent workout in with only being away from my desk for an hour and half or so.

What does everyone else do? I ride both days on the weekend and do brutal indoor interval / time trial training on wednesday nights. Plus I'm lifting. I'm also want to start entering races. Am I going over board? I just always want to be out on my bike.

I ride in the morning before work. When it's dark in the morning, I use lights. I can get in a 2-3 hour ride and still show up to work at a reasonable time.

Weekdays, I move inside to the rollers. Also spin class, some weights, and some stepmill work. I'm not happy about riding in the rain weekdays, or riding in the dark in traffic.

Can you find alternate roads or side streets to ride on for your commute? The route to work by bike is almost always different from the route to work by car.

I used to ride during one hour lunch. Just cleaned up at the sink afterward. But I didn't have to wear a suit at work.

I get home, rest, cook dinner, eat, wash dishes, then I can ride. It is dark out. Get good lights. Stay on lightly traveled roads. Instead of long, flat rides, short, hilly rides give a good workout. Be careful.

Riding to work gives you a work out and gets you to your job.
Give riding in the dark a shot, it's not that bad. Riding busy
streets and riding at night both bother you. I've been doing
it for 4 years now in New York city, it just takes getting used to:

+1 to riding at night. I am a shift worker and sometimes I have to go out for fitness rides at 2AM. Nothing could be more peaceful!
