found a nutritional cure for my Atrial fibrillation

Took 7 years and a lousy 2009/2010 but finally came up with something to stop my Afib. Magnesium citrate(also taking calcium). Am taking 200mg 3x per day. No a fibs since September 16th. and i was getting 2 episodes or more per month. The past year I got so bad had to quit biking, i would go into A-fib every time i went up hill. Sleep deprivation is my trigger. Like getting up at 5:30 to train....so looked up sleep deprivation and electrolytes, and guess what? It lowers magnesium and calcium. Try it . Worked for me. Calc. citrate and Magnesium citrate are absorbable and cheap. Dont take mag oxide or calc. carbonate- not absorbable. Happy training!

This is good to know.

As a side note - have you ever tried cardiac catheter ablation? I suppose it depends on your arrhythmia issue, but I had this done a couple of years ago for AV nodal reentrant tachy & it completely took away my symptoms (ie. 300+ HR @ 2x/month). I still worry about small bouts of mild A-fib, but it's nothing like it used to be.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. This is a surprising find, yet it doesn't surprise me that there may be a natural cure out there. Doctors can be quick to prescribe pills and conventional treatments that come out of textbooks but don't reflect the latest findings. Inadequate sleep and nutrition can cause subtle changes in hormones and electrolytes, which can lead to big problems.

How quickly did you notice a change?

As to ablation, think I'll pass. Not deficient in cardiac scar tissue. Why burn the heart when it worked fine for 40+ years. The magnesium actually worked immediatley. I was starting into and episode (after not sleeping the night before) took some magnesium and in 30 minutes the fluttering stopped. Convinced me. Supplementing mag. is a good idea for all athletes. It relaxes the cardiac muscles while calcium is excitatory. Hmmm. Just had a sleepless weekend, which normally always throws me into A-fib. Not a flutter. Magnesium citrate is my new best friend. Will be trying it for a young guy whose HR is going pathologically high when he runs( passes out!) Docs found nothing wrong with him. HR just goes too high when running. He also wasnt sleeping, etc. Starting him today, will write what happens.

Easy with the doctor bashing. I give Mg every day of my life for AF. Mg citrate might make you poop like crazy, which is the downside. You have to be careful not to take too much and get Mg toxic. Finally, the most important thing is why you're in AF at all, and make sure there's nothing else wrong with your heart. Going in and out of AF is actually the worst thing in terms of having a stroke.

Most blood panel reports test for Magnesium levels. Are you assuming you were out of range, or have you discovered you need to be above range?
