forum*rider 10-08-04 11:51 PM

bar: Clif

Drink: Cytomax, Hammerhead(only tried it once but it was pretty good.)

khuon 10-09-04 12:03 AM

Bar: You Are What You Eat Bars or Clif
Drink: Cytomax and water for riding, Vitamin Water (multi-V) for post-ride.

Zone Perfect - Chocolate Peanut Butter
$1.19 each at Trader Joe's

tastes like a Watchamacallit

Bop Bop 10-09-04 07:03 PM

Boze,

I agree on the Zone Bars. I eat the non chocholate ones as the chocholate ones get too messy in the AZ heat. I like to drink Poweraide.

Energy bar - None. They all taste like cr@p. I've switched to Fig Newtons.
Energy drink - Gatorade, I guess. The powdered stuff in the large size from Costco or some place like that ends up being pretty cheap.

Bar - Clif (was Balance, was PowerBar before that). But not all of 'em; that Lemon Poppyseed (or whatever) is downright nasty. Peanut Butter, Black Cherry, Cookies-n-Cream, ... mmm good (better than others but won't confuse them with a Snickers bar).

When thoroughly tired of Clif Bars, out come the Fig Newtons ... or the other "Newtons" (apple, strawberry, raspberry). One nice thing about them is that if they "crumble", you can smash back together (in the ziploc) and then eat 'em.

Need LOTS of water to wash either of these down, but at least I'll eat it. Bringing the "bar" back to the car doesn't do you any good. :p
Best.

Clif Carmel Apple mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm starting to wonder if maybe this young cyclist has the right idea.

Maybe I could use these tips for next years Seattle to Portland ride. :D

Well, I really only like... well at least I prefer... the Chocolate Fudgy and the Peanut Butter ones so I'm guessing I'm dehydrated cane juice. :D

Clif Bars are my favorite bars, but when I'm training I eat fig newtons, bananas, and Pop Tarts. Bars are for racing.

msparks 10-14-04 05:39 PM

Clif bars chocolate chip, powerbar harvest bars with the banana coating. Gu, chocolate(tastes like cake batter) Fig newtons are good too though, just bought a pack at the commisary.

Stubacca 10-14-04 07:14 PM

Clif bars, though not all the flavors. Bananas are always good, and the odd PB&J.

Has anyone here had a bar called Promax? My track buddy had one for lunch today and he gave me a piece. It was actually pretty good, the inside was like the stuff inside a 3musketeers bar except a bit chewy. I didn't see the ingredient label so I don't know how good this bar actually is(nutritionally).

BTW, he got it at Trader Joe's.

Cliff bars: chocolate almond, chocolate brownie
Accerlerade. Just started using it and like it. Always have gatorade around also.

gonesh9 10-17-04 05:34 PM

Clif Bars- 'cause their vegan, and I'm addicted to the lemon poppyseed.

For liquid energy, a nice local IPA or Amber does the trick :)

Diggy18 10-17-04 08:37 PM

It ain't a bar, but my vote is Candy Corn!

And Gatorade to drink.

torment 10-18-04 03:44 PM

Clif Fudge Brownie

bemoore 10-18-04 07:39 PM

Power Bar Harvest. Any of the chocolate flavors.

lawguy 10-19-04 11:21 AM

Wow. A lot of Clif Bar fans in here. Has anyone tried the Snickers Marathon bars? They are pretty good, I've been hooked on those.

There was a discussion on this a while ago and the general concensus was that it's an overpriced candy bar.
