Oh the Humanity if it all. ARRRRGGGG

Let's start this thread out one month ago.

I'm always on the prowl for a decent tasting energy bar. I've finnally found one that tastes great (almost to good as I could eat more than I should) Ok bought a case and they are great!!! Went back today to purchase another box of Clif LUNA Carmel Apple bars. The guy at the counter said " Hey does your gf like those bars? " I said no I don't have a gf they are for me. He said quote "Dude those bars are for girls ,, you'll grow tits" I about dropped over looking at the label "The whole nutrition for women" LOL mm I don't see in the ingrediants any estrogen. Hmm so now the dilema. Do I keep eating these bas and find another outlet and pretend they are for my gf? Do I keep looking for another tasty healthy energy bar? Do I take the chance and keep eating these delightfully tasty LUNA bars?

HELP

Chris lol

Dark Arrow,

This is from the Clif Bar web site:

LUNA was created in 1999 as a response to requests from female fans of CLIF BAR and the women here at our office. They wanted a bar with fewer calories and women-specific ingredients—and no bar like that existed.

With just 180 calories, each LUNA bar contains 23 vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that contribute to a woman’s overall health.

LUNA has soy protein to promote heart health; calcium for strong bones; folic acid for a healthy heart and healthy babies; B-vitamins; iron and antioxidants such as Vitamins A, C and E that contribute to overall wellness.

Other than the Folic Acid for both healthy hearts (non gender) and healthy babies. Do not see anything that would make them solely for woman. If you like them, eat them!! The hell with what anyone thinks.

I wouldn't worry unless you start finding yourself checking out the women's shorts and jerseys.

Slap that counter guy...hard. Can't he read at all? Then again, I guess that's why he's working the counters, huh?

One friend refers to Luna bars as Chick bars and/or Eunuch bars. Ummm ...

Another friend, more respected cyclist, has completed full Ironman Tris ... you could ride up to him, shake your head, and say "doesn't drink coffee but eats Luna bars" ... He'd laugh and then promptly ride you/me into the the ground.

If you like them and it helps you ride better, then who cares? Eat 'em. I really doubt if you'll be getting man-boobs on account of Luna bars.

BTW ... have you tried the regular Clif bar(s)?
Best.

"Women specific ingediants"? 'reduced cal energy bars'?
Man chicks will buy anything. Just slap a "Made just for women." sticker on it and rake in the dough.

I went to a GNC one time to try some different nutrition bars. This fat guy behind the counter procees to tell me not to try certain ones because they have soy protein in them and that my breasts will start lactating from them. I said "cool."

Some people are just not smart.

I guess if it's not specifically a "woman's bar", then it must be a "man's bar". I better watch out then... I may start growing appendages below the waist since I've been eating powerbars for years!

I eat them and I'm still covered from stem to stern with body hair (yes, I am male).

BTW- I just got a box of 15 Carmel Apple Luna's from Nashbar along with some other stuff. They're on sale for $9.99 and you can also use the 10% off coupon in the Hot Deals forum.

Koffee
Well it could be sex neutral bars that don't state which gender they are for. Or maybe those that are not labled are cross gender bars ,, hmmm Well keep us posted if you find anything unatural starting to grow Koffee. I'm still gonna still eat Luna's they are sooooo tasty I'll just have to keep an eye on my bustline for any developments.

I'm going to buy some, in the hope that my leg hair will become softer, so as to facilitate easier shaving.

HAHAHA, what an idiot. There is no estrogen in LUNA bars.

You should have said "Dude, you should read this stuff!" and he would have asked "Why?" and then you say "Because if you don't educate yourself, you'll be working here forever!"

I like the S'more flavored ones, they rock.

My problem with Lunas is that they cost just as much as all the other bars but weigh in 60 calories light.(carm apple vs powerbar chocolate) I feel cheated when 1/4 of my calories are missing.

Besides powerbar has come out with quite a few new flavors(even s'mores)
I like to stick 4 different powerbars flavors together to make what I have dubbed a "Superbar" with only 900 calories.
I discovered the Superbar during an adventure race, I didn't want to futz with packing out old sticky wrappers and tracking the location of multiple bars(on top of 45 pieces of mandatory kit) so I unwrapped several bars pre race and put them in one sandwich bag and, after a spell, it was born.

I think I had calculated 10-15 thousand calories for that race.(Nonstop clock as all true Adv. races are. Even ten day races )
