I had laparoscopic gall bladder surgery on 10/2. I went for a five mile ride on Oct 11. My wife thinks I am doing too much to quickly. I don't have a follow up visit with the doctor until 10/18. I am not suppose to lift more than 20 pounds. My bike weighs less than that. If just just stick to spinning easy gears I don't see any problems other than I tire quickly right now. Has anybody else gone through this surgery? How long did it take to get to 100%. Thanks.

I had my appendix taken out back in March. It was done laparoscopicly and I was able to ride my bike a week after. I wasn't able to push for about a month but if I kept the gears low and the cadence high I was fine. It is more a personal feeling. If there isnt any pain you are good but if there is I would wait another week.

I've heard about people playing volleyball the next day, but after I had laparoscopy (for something else) a few years ago, it was about a week before I felt okay enough to do anything. I had a lot of pain from being puffed up with air. Then I went back to the gym and injured my shoulder which f'ed it up for two years.
You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. That's great...if you want to attract vermin.

I had major abdominal surgery, part of which was gall bladder removal. At the time I was swimming regularly rather than cycling, but after a week in hospital, a week of recovery at home (mind you I was walking further every day), I was back swimming a km in the pool. My surgery was not laparoscopic, I've got an 8 inch scar across my middle but my surgeon basically said do whatever you feel comfortable doing. If it hurts STOP!
