Yes, I would make it a lot like weight training, especially post ride. For pre-ride I would have something with slow digesting carbs, like oatmeal for example, and try to get some protein in as well. For post-ride I would have a 4:1 carb to protein ratio shake. I have 2 scoops of gatorade, with half a scoop of whey protein. Accelerade is already mixed this way, but I have never tried it. Then have a good healthy meal about an hour after your ride as well. Well, there's my 2 cents.
The night before a long ride or run I like to load up on a big bowl of whole wheat pasta and lowfat cottage cheese. It seems to work well for me. Post - I'll eat pretty much anything that doesn't move, along with tons of liquids.
