Normal weight fluctuations

I started steping on the scale every morning about 3 weeks ago. It seems my weight jumps around alot. Yesterday I ate 3 pieces of pizza for lunch and one searving of spaghetti for supper and some mixed veggies. Well the scale read 192 this morning and was 189 yesterday. Is this weight fluctuation due to water weight, or weight of the contents of my bowels?

Both.

I hate it when I go to the movies. The salt from the popcorn alone bumps my body weight two pounds (water retention).

Carb-rich meals can also lead to water retention and thus an increase in weight.

I had a rare, weekend getaway this past month. According to the scale I gained 7lbs in 3 days. It was all gone in another 3 . . . water weight's sneaky like that.

I can feel the puffiness in my cheeks and face, so I know exactly what it is. Those numbers on the scale can be a real shock though, even though you know it's going to be gone soon.

I just got back from the beach where we ate Outback,Dennys,K&W, chicfillet and a plethora of every junk eatery in the south. I actually see a difference in the mirror, let alone hop on the scale! The guys above are correct tho, give it about 3 days and if you go back to nornal eating and water, you will deflate. I feel and look like the staypuff marshmellow man. Sucks!

Group ride tonight, I just hope to hang onto the back.

I average about 177 but can be as high as 180 or as low as 175. I've found that my body typically varies +-2lbs on any given day.

sweating it out certainly seems to speed up the process. Diuretics like coffee (unless you're a regular and heavy user) or water with a dash of apple cider vinegar, and chugging H2O all day long speed up the process. At least for me.

Moving averages are best for weight tracking. There are fee websites to help you with it, or go old school with graphing paper and a calculator.

And this is why I weigh myself every morning. I read a lot of people's advice about only weighing once or twice a week and to not become fixated on the number because your body does fluctuate. But to me, it seems that since the weight does fluctuate you need MORE data points, not less. More data will smooth out the inconsistencies, giving you a more accurate report of trending up or trending down.

I weigh my self every day. The days when I eat pizza I always see a jump in my weight the next morning. Cheese & bread are foods that are typically slow to digest. Plus salt in the dough, sauce, and meats will make you retain water for a little while.
