Agees has the Cycleops 9004 Magneto for 165.99
Performance has the Travel Trac Century Fluid Plus for 169.99.

I'm of two minds. We cannot afford the CycleOps fluid 2, which seems to be a hit, and that's why I'm thinking Travel Trac. But, it doesn't have that Cycle Ops name behind it

Which is why I'm considering the Cycle Ops Magneto, which seems to be the next best thing, plus it has the brand/performance recognition.

Help me, please...

Try this website- they have the Magneto for cheaper than both of the prices you quoted: https://www.pricepoint.com Type in CycleOps in the search field, and you'll find they have three of the CycleOps trainers on sale, and the one you want is cheaper than where you quoted.

While you're at it, if you feel like that cycleops fluid 2 may be within your budget once you check the pricepoint.com site, I would definitely give them a call and see what they're charging from the catalog. I ordered the cycleops fluid 2 trainer from off the website, then I got the catalog a week later, and it was like $20 cheaper in the catalog!

You may want to also do a www.froogle.com pricecheck too on all trainers you're interested in just to ensure you're getting it as economically as possible. Sometimes, a froogle search can pull it up even cheaper than you thought.

I bought the Cycleops Magneto a couple weeks ago and I love it. It's pretty quiet so I can still watch movies without having to turn up the volume. It provides plenty of resistance and I'm definitely happy with that.

I don't have any experience with other trainers, but I'm satisfied with my purchase. Plus it came with a free training DVD!

I will go for the better product and go on my ramen diet until I pay off the debt. BTW, the CycleOps Fluid2 is truly a great product. I have put 1900 miles on it and its still perfect.

Hey guys, if you want a CycleOps Fluid 2 trainer you can get them pretty cheap on ebay. I bought one a couple of weeks ago and it's great. I tried a Mag+ at my LBS but the resistance felt like it topped out more quickly.

This is the guy I bought it from. Have no affiliation with them whatsoever. I was looking at the Kurt Kenetic and the 1upUSA but for $233 shipped insured the CycleOps Fluid 2 won out.

Trainers may be boring as hell but they sure beat getting out in bad weather. They're just perfect for logging those base miles.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sadly, we can just not afford the +200.00 price of the Cycle Ops, even if I put my husband and I both on a Ramen-only diet. I opted for the Travel Trac. Thanks for the pricepoint suggestion, however. I see a few things I'll be buying thru that site in the future.

If you get a new Cycleops, the 2005 Mag models have progressive resistance--very similar to a Fluid, built in. So no stupid remotes to fiddle with. Just ride on it with your gears. I think the unit is around $159 at our shop.
