I cannot stop eating fritos!

I got to work and I can't stop consuming massive amounts of fritos and guzzling tons of tea! (What? I like tea...)

I mean I'm thirsty yeah but why can't I stop eating these corn chips? I have Nuun in my Camelbak, there's no way in hell I'm low on sodium with the amount of electrolytes I take in but the salt is sooooo tasty :twitchy:

Fritos = ew.
Tea is splendid. Especially the loose leaf Irish tea we purchase from a company in BC.
Most of what us Americans call tea is crap.

I get Twinning's Irish Breakfast Tea mostly. Their loose tea is good, but their tea bags are crap. It's actually confusing; I tried a bag of their Chai tea and it had very little actual tea, too much spice, was very stale, and very nasty. Completely imbalanced.

I should not have a salt craving o_o

Fritos are mostly fat and fat tastes good.

Yes you can.

You may know that the Turks are the all-time great tea drinking people. Well, Indians are right up there, too. Be that as it may, Turkish tea is the finest in the world. You can get the very finest Turkish tea, Filiz, that there is right here:

Plus it's cheap! And OMG good. Use plenty. Steep 4-5 minutes. The Turks make it very strong and drink it with sugar. I prefer to make it milder, maybe 3T/qt., and drink it unsweetened.

You might be deficient in some other mineral other than sodium. I have heard that when people are deficient in calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, or potassium might crave salty foods, but all that does is make the ratio further out of whack. Maybe you want a blood test.

Just step away from the fritos. Don't have even one. It's not a craving that means your body is telling you you need electrolytes. It's just junk food, they make it on purpose that way to keep you eating it.

So are you biking to support your Frito habit? (to keep the weight gain in check) :D

VarVintg 06-29-11 05:03 PM

Heck, just add a little chili and some cheese, then regret it later on the long ride!

There are lots and lots of different kinds of tea.

Nothing against Twinings, or Irish Breakfast, but try something different.

Right now, I am drinking Yorkshire Gold and Assam.

Start giving things up.

Start with Fritos.

Food companies know exactly how to push your buttons.
Fritos punches most of them.

It's more drug than food.

Good point, and potassium would be worth trying.
Potassium tablets are cheap. Low sodium salt has potassium.
As do bananas.

I think everyone has their achilles of foods. If it's hindering your weight loss or affecting your ride, you need to cut it out! I have big food vices- chips and chocolate. For me, I can't ever have those foods again in order to balance out my diet and keep the weight loss going. If I even look at those foods, I start craving it, and then all of a sudden, I'm binging!

Long ago, I had a big thing for Mountain Dew. I had to drink about 5- 6 of the 20 oz bottles every day. I couldn't stop. One day, I realized I'd put on about 10 pounds. I hadn't done anything different except drink all this Dew. So I cut it out. I don't drink it- ever. It was a big struggle initially, but now, I'm about three years into not drinking Dew, and I don't crave it at all. It may come down to that extreme to get yourself out of eating fritos.

Wheat Thins. The sunrise and tomato kind. Ugh.
