Cytomax is no more . . . what to use instead?

Cytosport has discontinued the venerable sports drink, Cytomax. Retailers tell me that when their stock is gone, it's gone.

My wife has been using Cytomax for her short ride and workout sports drink for many years. She liked the taste, especially the Lemon Lime, and it sat well in her stomach. So now what? She can't digest HEED - maybe the xylitol. She doesn't like Gatorade. For long rides where she likes protein in the mix, she does well on Ensure, but she'd get tired of that pretty quickly.

So what else do you folks like?

Possibilities: Accelerade, Champion Revenge Sport (label sounds a lot like Cytomax).

Yes. But click and try to buy some . . . Ah, I was clicking on the label of the stuff we've always used, which they show as no longer made. It looks like they have another product under the same name, with a different label:
http://www.cytosport.com/products/cy...ctomax-powders
The blurb is about the same as the original stuff.

Anybody use it?

I switched to PowerBar 2 years ago when I found Cytomax was upsetting my internals. I like the fruit punch.

I think they changed the formula (and the label), I certainly notice that the taste is different. Personally, I don't care for the new version so I'll be trying some other powders.

Cytomax is still available, just as a new formula sweetened with Stevia. They've been marketing it like mad, so I'm surprised you have not run across it.

It's probably a new SKU which is messing with online stores.

I've ordered it and hate it. I'm starting to experment with new drinks myself.

I love the Hammer mixes, myself. Accelerade is also nice.

Thanks for the review! My wife also hates stevia. I'm not fond of it, either.

Accelerade is my choice, since I can usually stand the flavor and it has more salt than most. I just wish they would back off on the citric acit.

I'm cheap. I use Gatorade powder from Walmart. Usually mix about 1/2 to 2/3 strength. Works for me.

I just buy maltodextrin and add a little "light salt". Much, much less expensive

I buy it in the 50 lb. bag for myself, but my wife can't seem to tolerate the straight stuff. Maybe if I mixed it a little lighter for her. We will continue to experiment. I have a tri friend who spends over $1000/yr at Hammer.

I use a combination of EFS from First Endurance and an amino acid from Scivation called Xtend. Together they provide a potent electrolyte mix and branch chain amino acids. Its the best combination I've found. They work great together to keep you going longer without bonking. As to protein, I save the protein for post workout with a healthy dose of glutamine (my favorite supplement) for repair and recovery. Don't forget the post workout drink possibly the most important meal of the day.

If you do order from wherever, make sure that the picture of the container looks like the container that they're selling on the Cytosport site, not the container that they've discontinued.

Some folks like Gatorade, some folks don't. It has calories and electrolytes.
