Mountain bike race training plan
As much as I hate to become a regimented trainer, I really want to race mountain bikes next summer, so I developed a plan that I feel is solid. I have mapped out a circuit that is 5.75 miles long around campus, so one of these is a lap.
week one: 4 laps 5 days per week
week two: 5 laps 5 days a week
week three: 6 laps five days per week
week four: 7 laps three days per week
My first race will most likely be in late march, so I will have to start this in Feburary.
I'd take it easy week four.
So, 4 laps 3 times that week? I have heard to increase by 10% every week until week 4, then you back it off, but I forget by how much.
week 4 maybe like this:
tues: 4 laps
wed: 3 laps
fri: 4 laps
just don't take a day off the day before the race
