wrist/hand sprain aftermath

Hi all;

I sprained my wrist ~5 wks ago; I took a week and a half off the bike, then travelled for 2 more weeks (didn't bring a bike), and now I have been back on the bike (commuting) for I guess 7 workdays. Each day it has improved.

But, this weekend I noticed, in addition to some residual swelling around my wrist (which I don't think much of), a firm lump inside the hand that I sprained. It's about the volume of a superball, it feels like. It's disconcerting. Is this likely related to my sprain or is it more likely that it was always there and I never had reason to notice it?

I've started wondering about PT too. Every day I do something new w/ my hand that causes pain, then I try and re-stretch that so I mostly don't get that day's pain again on subsequent days. I just wonder how many more surprises there are before the wrist/hand are stretched out and back to normal(-ish).

I did get x-rays and there is no break.
