aches and pains...
Ok we all know front of the knee/back of the knee = seat too high or low.
But here's the stumper:
I get this pain (more like perpetual discomfort) running up the inside of my lower leg. Feels like it has something to do with my calf, but it it is on the inside of the leg not the back. I can pin point it when its really bad (like when I run on it) to the where my calf muscle meets my ankle. Feels like a shin splints, but its not my shin, and it come in waves.
Anyone? Maybe its from back pedaling, maybe my shoes dont fit? Maybe the clip on my clipless peds are too loose?

I have the exact same sensation.. no clue what it is. It's not really a pain, but a discomfirt.. and when I like stretch my leg it goes away for a second and comes back.

i have heard of leg pains from not having enought "float" on your clipless pedals? but I dont know anything about that. does it only hurt when you are riding? also make sure you are eating properly, nutrition can have a lot to do with muscle aches and pains.
again, i dont really know sh1t, but I hear a lot of stuff from doctors.

hopefully it isn't a stress fracture. I've known many runners who have bowed their shins from running too much. Hopefully riding doesn't do the same thing.

I think that stress fractures come from repeated stress where the stress is more powerful (destructive?) thann pedaling. Running is a good example. The dtress from your legs hitting the ground is MUCH more than say pedaling. Thats why I've never heawrd of a swimmer gettign a stress fracture.

Yeah, stress fractures are much more common from more intense impacts than pedaling, but I wonder if riding fixed puts more stress on the legs, and might increase the probability of a stress fracture.
I've gotten them in my hands, and they hurt like a b*tch basically non stop, so I would assume they aren't in this case, but I'm no doctor either.

I don't think that riding fixed puts more stress on your legs than running. I bet you can back pedal all day, and the stess on your legs will never be the same as a 5K road race. Of course this is purely specualtion, and i'm full of crap.

THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN MOVED...
my aches and pains are likely to do with having a fixed bike.... the stress from back pedaling or skidding or having to climb in a hard gear. It was posted in fixedgear forum to get the advice of other fixie riders who have the same leg motion as me. I did not want the advice of people who can coast.
