non cycling knee pain. . .

last night I was playing "tug" with my German Shepard
(her favourite game) when all of a sudden I got this
very intense burning sensation on the lower outside
of my left kneecap. I sat down (rather quickly much
to the dogs dismay) and it subsided. When I stood
(and put pressure on knee) it started again.
I skipped my morning roller routine, it's bit tender this
    morning but not really uncomfortable.
anyone have any ideas on what I might have done?

    thanks,
    Marty

Sorry man, wish I could help but I'm no doc, neither do I have experience with pain like you've just described... If it won't go away, you'll better be heading to see a doctor...

Hope it won't be anything serious, just a pulled tendon...

its odd, that is exactly where IT band pain shows up when you get it, however IT band pain, at least in my experience starts out not that bad at all, then it gradually gets worse until you notice it.

Were you on your knees when it happened? If so, something very similar happened to me recently. In fact, the skin in that area is a little numb, like a nerve was damaged. Luckily it doesn't seem to affect my cycling. Hope yours doesn't, either.

update: pain free this morning, but still gonna keep off the rollers (any excuse
in a storm). Tom, No I was standing when it happened, no numbness just a
    burning pain.
If it reoccurs I'll go see doctor, I was just wondering if anyone experienced
    anything similiar

    Thanks,
    Marty
