Laguna Bum

My wife had knee surgery and I need to set up a trainer for rehab. I know nothing about trainers because I hate riding my bike indoors. I need a trainer that has very little resistance for her rehab.

I'm looking at the Kurt Konetic Cyclone and the website says...Speed-sensitive resistance from 5-1,000+ watts

Does that mean the faster she pedals the harder the resistance?

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Means the faster she pedals in the same gear, the higher the resistance. The resistance unit is driven by the wheel speed, not the crank speed. By shifting into a lower (easier) gear, she can reduce the resistance level. If you just need a basic trainer for her, shop craigslist (and end of season clearances at your favorite LBS) for a magnetic or fluid trainer. The Kurt Kinetics are very well made, but probably overkill unless she's coming out of rehab to train for competitions.
