Sigma Sport PC3 Heart Rate Monitor

Does anybody know anything about these monitors? I was given one (yay free stuff), but don't know anything about it. It is good, is it garbage, am i better off trying to ebay it or something? Anybody here actually use one? I'm not sure if i actually need one or not, but i do love geeky electronic toys...

Ubie, I bought mine off eBay last year for $25. It does what it's supposed to do, tell you your heart rate.

Mine drops-out (reads 'zero') when the watch is too far away from the chest strap. I put the watch on my handle bars with the holder that was included.

I really don't use it much though, I just wanted to know how I was progressing. When I was going too fast or too slow. It helped me to slow down and stay in my 'zone'.

I'd keep it. It might come in handy one of these days.

I've got a PC1300 and it's good. Chest strap must have a strong signal as it posts my HR on adjoining eliptical machines.............

So i tried this thing out, and nothing. hrm, maybe it needs a new battery on the chest strap since everything on the watch seems to be functional, keeping time and all that. Any reccomendations on gel or what to use on the straps, the manual says gel or saliva (i admit, i tried the saliva), but this could be my problem too i suppose. I'm also fat (5'6", 210lbs), could this be interfering? Quite frankly i don't know anything about HRM and information through Google on these is spotty at best.

I use a Sigma PC1600 HRM and don't need gel or anything fancy on the strap. Just a little bit of spit will do.

I use a PC1600 HRM too. I always run the plastic part of the strap under the tap before I put it on, but I'm not sure it even needs that.

Does the HRM not measure any HR at all? Sure, try a new battery. I think it's probably CR2032 - very common, and no more than $2. If it's not that then you have a spare battery.

I use PC3 all the time. While it may display Zero some time, it's OK most of the time. Considering it's price, it's a very good deal. I also have Cateye which is slightly more dependable, but I love PC3 for its price. May be I'm a cheap skate. I also like Cateye Astral, and these two pair up nicely. Infact, I can live with just cadance and hrm.
