What do you drink on the road?

When I'm cycling I drink Gatorade, Power Aid. I was wounding what other people drink, and if it help you on the road? I find that the Gatorade help the best for long rides.

For me, Gatorade has too much sugar and not enough electrolytes.

Depends on the length. Today I planned on possibly a 2 hr ride, so I had one bottle water & one bottle accelerade. I usually go heavy on just water for most weekday rides.

H2O.

I used to try various concoctions of energy drinks, but found I do best on plain water & Clif bars.

Short (<2hrs I use water). For longer rides I use 1/3 water 2/3 gatorade or 2/3 power aid. I also use accelerade on centuries, brevets etc...

Damn you're old school.

Sucks about Reggie, eh? I live in the Harness Factory Lofts, right across from Conseco, and I've always been able to go downstairs and find cheap tickets once the game has started. It'll be sad not to see Reggie next year. Maybe they'll lower my rent, since no one will be going to see the Pacers.

Back on topic..... Cytomax apple berry all the way.

I've been using Gookinaid for almost four decades. Living on the Gulf Coast, you need to replenish electrolytes anytime your active outside. I use it at a concentration that gives me about 70% of the levels for Potassium, Magnesium and Sodium recommended by folks like Chris Carmichael and Ed Burke in their various books. I think it's also about 2/3 of what Gookinade recommends too.

My wife and I hit on that concentration in the late 60's(?) because it eliminated the post jogging headaches and energy loss. We prefer the taste of what they call "professional" or "Natural Citrous Flavor"

We use a lot of it so we get it in the 1 kg cans in quantities of three. REI discouts it for larger purchases and the shipping is about the same as for 1-can.

http://www.gookinaid.com/

Gatoraid is mostly Sodium Chloride which is generally high in most diets.

I was into basketball long before I caught the cycling bug, so I've always been drinking Gatorade. I can buy cheap powder at Wal-Mart, so I stick with it.

It really does suck about Reggie. I'm only 22 and he's been playing for 18 years, so he's all I have ever known. He was always an inspiration to me because I'm a skinny little guy just like him. I got cheap $10 tickets to the last regular season game. I'll try not to cry.

On short rides, water only. On longer rides either water and gatorade or water and GU packets. It just depends on my mood before I head out the door. Post workout I always drink a small bottle of gatorade.

I typically drink Cytomax. I seem to tolerate it the best. On long hot rides, I'll pop 1 or 2 Endurolytes in addition to the Cytomax. And if it's a really nasty hot day, I'll stop and buy a Coke to pep me up.

I usually drink both water and Gatorade on a ride. I found out that if I drink Gatorade by itself it kinda leaves a bad after taste on a long ride, so I will take a few sips of water with it as well to ease it down. I've been doing that for a while now and have had great results.

Powdered Gatorade for me, after I add water of course. The price is right and it seems to work for me. BTW the sodium Sports drinks are supposed to make you feel thirsty so you'll drink more which is a good thing . That way hyponatremia and dehydration won't happen.

Short rides: water. Long rides: make Gatorade with cranberry/grape/other juice: http://recipecircus.com/recipes/spho...Gatorade_.html

Short rides is Gatorade mixed half strength. Longer rides 2+ hours I use either ccelerade or Cytomax mixed a little on the weak side and add a 1/4 tsp of Lite salt.

Water. Or 3:1 water:juice with a pinch of biosalt. Or water with plain maltodextrin powder, a pinch of biosalt and a squeeze of lime. Strong flavours and sweet sticky stuff annoy me.

usually it is a fine mix of malted hops, barley and water. On rare occasion, I mix 151 and diet coke with a splash of lime juice in a Camelbak. (I can only afford water)

Personally I prefer to leave the fermented/distilled portion of my diet until after the ride. I have left enough skin on the road to last me a while.

I normally mix in some different sport drink powders in my Camelback for long rides, otherwise I stick with plain agua.
