Her mother, on the other hand, makes things very difficult. She doesn't understand that I'm not just being uptight, that there are legitimate risks involved with feeding children food that isn't food.

I agree. It's a shame. Because my grandparents ate out of their gardens, and got meat from a farm down the road.
We've gone backwards in the past 40 years with our food choices, and sacrificed quality for convenience in almost every facet of our lives.
