I had some frozen banana that had been run through one today. I was shocked how good it tasted with one ingredient, the banana.

I'm ready to buy one, just wondering how they hold up.

I got one about 6 months ago and use it almost daily. I cram it full of nuts, seeds, leafy greens, frozen bananas, frozen berries, ice cubes and water. I exceed their "Max Limit" line every time. I sometimes have to stop and shake it briefly but it grinds right thru everything including the seeds and nuts. Best thing I ever got for the kitchen. Every bike ride ends with a frozen smoothie made with my NutriBullet. If it ever fails, I'll replace it. It's also fast and easy to clean - just rinse, add dish soap and water and run it for a few seconds.

I recommend you get one. If you use it to failure from overuse replace it with a Vitamix at a later time.

If you are 100% sure you want to go smoothie I recommend you get a Vitamix now. I picked up a refurbished unit from the Vitamix website for $299.

I'm new to smoothies and confused about the different types of blenders. My Daughter has a Vitamix but it appears to be more of a juicer (correct word?) than the Nutri bullet. The NB puts out, using a frozen banana, the consistency of ice cream. Will the Vitamix do that? Perhaps I'm using my Daughter's wrong?

There are 2 main commercial blenders style that I am aware of Vitamix and Blendtec. They are the top of the line units and use 2+HP motors to make smoothies. I think they call it liquefing their contents, but these are not juicers. Juicers separate the pulp from the fruits and require a lot of clean up, whereas blenders/food processes chop up all the fibers(skins and pulps) in the a smooth consistency. The Vitamix and Blentec do the same thing as the MB only better and easier to clean, but at a higher cost.

an example is I added 1/3 of a cantelope, a cucumber, 15 mint leaves, a banana a cup of yogurt and 2 handfulls of ice cubes and made a smoothie after my ride yesterday. enough for 2.5 - 3 pint glasses.

check out the website. vitamix.com for capability. They claim it makes allsorts of stuff, but I use it to make lots of green smoothies to ensure I get a balanced diet.

I recommend you do some online research on the various models. magic/nutriBullet, Vitamix, Blentec, Ninja are some of the more popular and recommended ones.

I prefer the larger size and simple design of the Vitamix so replaced my old Hamilton beach when it began to leak and make a mess during blending.

I have the Nutri-Bullet Magic Bullet and also exceed the max line. Used daily and never have any problems with frozen fruits and ice. My main blender is the Ninja Professional. It will give the Vitamix a run for the money at a fraction of the cost. Don't waste your time on the cheaper blenders. My main diet is fruits and veggies, (smoothies) so I give my blenders quite the workout.

Nothing like filling the Nutri-Bullet with fruits and enjoying the smoothie after a good long ride.

Just checked - it's the 900.

My smoothies have the consistency of a thick milkshake but the viscosity is easily adjusted. If it's too thick just add water and continue grinding. Too thin, add ice cubes or more frozen berries and grind.

If I've packed it too full and it's not quite grinding everything, I stop it and shake it up. Sometimes several times.

I got the Nutribullet after I got out of the hospital following my heart attack. I'm naturally thin (they said "emaciated") and they wanted me to gain weight - I was down to 121 lbs before being released. Anyway, the dietitian recommended the Nutribullet for me to make easy "meals". I don't like to cook but I can make a healthy smoothie in a hurry. I use the largest size container they offer and drink it all.

The other recommendations look good too. Just don't get stuck in analysis paralysis .

My sister has one that her and I use daily. She does smoothies, I do protien shakes. Uses daily, sometimes twice daily. Has held up fine for the past 10 months.

My wife has one. The tabs on the cups, that depress the switch when you press the cup down onto the blade, snap off. The screw-on cup lips tend to glue themselves to the cups. On the plus side everything just goes in the dishwasher with no fuss and you don't feel like you're dragging out a huge appliance to make something small for yourself.

+1. Like Viaam4ever, I picked up a refurb. It looks and works like new, and I'm pretty sure it could grind my handlebars down to powder, if I wanted.

I do agree the Vitamix is the be all blender, but you really dont need to spend the outrageous amount of coin to get a high quality blender. When I was at Target, the Vitamix was 499.00. I was like, holy, sh_t. Got the Ninja Pro for 139.00 and a 30.00 gift card. Do your research, youtube blender comparisons. Not hatin on the Vitamix, just sayin.

PS, if the Vitamix was in the Hot r Not thread, it would get a Not.

I have the old school magic bullet, it works fine and tho down on power, you can just run it a little longer and you get the same results.

My wife just bought a Ninja (900w I think). It came with a regular pitcher and two individual smoothie containers. Works good for quick shakes or smoothies. Fast, smooth, and easy to clean.

No experience with a Nutri Bullet but love my Vitamix. As stated by another poster Blendtec also has a solid reputation.

Two of us have been using our Nutri-Bullet every day for about a year and it's still working great. It seems like it'll pulverize anything.

I got a ninja not to long ago. It came with a large pitcher and to personal single drink blenders.

I have a hard time with the consistencies of most solid fruits and the ninja blends it up very smooth.

It makes it possible for me to get my fruits in.

I also have a Ninja and really like the individual blenders. I also have a Bella Rocket blender which also makes individual portions. It does an decent job as well but doesn't have the power of the Ninja.

I have looked at them. But I have a stick blender that works well enough for my simple smoothies. (fruit juice, frozen berries, yogurt)

I have the earlier 600 watt nutri-bullet, which I use a few times a week and purchased a little over two years ago. It works well with frozen fruit, nuts and vegetables. To date the only part I’ve had to replace is the screw on cap with blade attachment however it was replaced under warranty (faulty gasket.) The two additional travel cups that accompany the unit are disappointing. There are no gaskets in the lids for the cups, and they leak.

Another Blendtec user here; got it for Christmas from the in-laws. I do shakes, but my favorite is a full blender jar of ice ... I can make slushies, then add the protein etc after I have a mix of what looks like partially melted snow. Rule is: try to cook the motor, wife's aunt did this and called Blendtec, apparently they were excited to get a cooked motor in for RMA after only 2500 minutes of use; they express shipped her a N.I.B. and let her keep the old fourside.

I have a MagicBullet and have used it at least once a day for 16 months. I've replaced the blades once. They started leaking fluid. The new set is much better. It has been laboring recently and the motor has that burnt smell, so I feel a replacement is in my future. I am thinking of upgrading to a Vitamix/Blendtec. I'm taking the time to do the research now for a longer lasting product.
