proanthocyanidins / Pycnogenol - any insights ?

Hi everyone,

If you have insights about consumption of this specific AOX, I will be happy to hear

I see that Lact-away recommend 375mg 3-4 hours prior to a race - I wonder if this does not impair mitochondrial adaptations to endurance training (such as claimed on C,E vitamines based AOX)

Thanks!

What is it you are trying to do?

My take on antioxidant compounds is that they are great, but problems
with high doses have popped up in the literature.

So what I do is a shotgun approach, instead of one big bullet.
I take a bunch of different antioxidants (along with some other stuff I think is good)
and make my own pill.

for most things, I shoot for 10% of what's in the pill. Some of the non-food based antioxidants
are very strong, I think of them as harsh, and I go for 5% there. Things like pycnogenol and reservatol.
Having tried a few dozen different mixes (literally) I am not currently using any of those.

So I take about 30 different pills, dump them out, stir with a spoon,
and put them into large gelatin caps. I am currently thinking about doing that,
but using a smaller capsule.

You're welcome.

Don't know about mitochondria, but I do know from upset stomach, and I think taking one
after a race might be better.
