Knees Clicking
Another mystery click! I've found my right knee seems make a few little clicks when I bend down on it with my weight on it. Like the same motion if you were going down stairs. Doesn't do it walking or as far as I know riding. They're pretty quiet and dont hurt. Anyone else get this? Don't know if its riding related.

Patient: Doctor, Doctor, it hurts every time I do this. [Patient flaps arms in an unnatural fashion while rapidly banging their head against left and right shoulders].
Doctor: Don't do that.
But seriously, I've got wonky knees, too. Always had clicks in them when squatting. I've found that riding has done nothing but strengthen the muscles around them. The only times I've ever had sore knees after a ride is if i tried to hammer in a bigger gear instead of spinning.

My knees have clicked when bending down for as long as I can remember. Have never had any pain associated with it.

After reading these forums we all tend to develop indexed shifting components in our knees.

My knees click going up and down stairs. It started with only my left knee, then a few years later my right knee started doing it also. It is totally painless.
I thought it might be cycling related until Mrs Javaman revealed that her knees do it , too, and she does not ride a bike.

Sometimes I'll be walking and my right ankle starts to click. It *feels* like a ball/socket joint thats popping out and dropping back in but it doesn't hurt one bit. Its done that for years now (I'm 21).
My shoulder does this thing... if I put my right hand behind my head and flap my "wing" like a chicken, forward and back not up and down, it creates a LOUD thumping noise as the bone/joint shifts around. Theres is a noticeable... motion, like when you are pushing a wooden block against a table and you hit a bump and the block stops and then you push a little harder and it suddenly shoots up and over the bump.
My left shoulder can do that too on rare occasions. I can make my right shoulder do it at will but only accidentally on the left.
None of these have ever caused any pain (except the very first time my ankle popped about 6 years ago).
I wouldn't worry about it too much...

you can help it with physiotherapy. i get huge pain in my knees and they click occasionally. apperantly i strengthened my knees more on one side of my quadrecep than the other causing my knee to move awkwardly (the knee cap floats to the right when I bend my leg) so now i have to strengthen that muscle and its a HUGE pain in the ass. it doesn't hurt, it's just annoying doing the excercises...
