Think Im close to being over Trained

Ive rode about 2500 miles during the winter . Been racking up the miles and did a 12 percent grade 4 mile climb 3 times in one week . Been going all out . Oh well , looks like I have a few days off .

12 percent for 4 miles? Insane Picture please...

What makes you think you are overtrained? Symptoms. For me it was a lowered excersize HR.
Just your average club rider... :)

Do I smell some bragging here? I'm sure you're fine Jarhead. Thankfully though, I too am not entering Spring out of shape, VA is warm enough (or more acurately ice-free-roads-enough) to bike all winter long and my Spring break tour was a week through the the Blueridge... you want to know long and steep grades with a bike loaded with 85 lbs of camping gear in sub-freezing and windy conditions? Sorry, I won't tell you, you got to do it for yourself, you'll love it! (at least you might)

ONLY 2500 miles over the winter? Are you planning to pick up the pace now that spring is here?

I started the day riding north on Penn 191 to Stroudsburg. That was a good ride, if you like hills. After getting away from the Allentown area, it was just pretty good riding to Bangor. There I had the choice of riding east to Portland and then up the Delaware river or north, crossing the Appalachian Trail, to Stroudsberg. I've already crossed the trail by bicycle in all of the states south of here except Maryland, so I figured I should go for it in Pennsylvania. It was a good climb - about 2,000 feet of climbing to get from Nazareth to the trail and another 500 to get from there into Stroudsberg. The grades were up to 13%, but the really long climbs were half of that. I used my 19" granny, but only on a few of the steeper sections. Rather like riding the Blue Ridge Parkway. although the heat and humidity and bugs were much worse.

The above is the hill .. I found it on some guys blog about his trip through the area
