Does the sweating ever stop?

During training sessions in someone's finished basement, usually an hour and 15 minutes worth, I sweat.

Sweat is natural of course. But as I look around the room at the others, I see some sweat, but I have my own dang rainstorm going on. I can soak a kitchen towel. And my jersey is drenched too.

Others, look positively dry by comparison.
I pre hydrate a bit, and keep a large water and a smaller electrolyte on the bike during sessions. I go thorough most but not all before the session ends.

Is this worth worrying about? See a doctor?

Thanks peeps

I'm no doctor, but it sounds like you are doing it right and "they" are doing it wrong.

I don't consider it a workout unless I work up a sweat, IMHO, the more the better.

Make it rain.

Part of it might be your perception - you can feel the droplets running down your back as well as see the droplets falling on your top tube, whereas you can only see the surface sweat of others.

But just know that riding indoors always feels much sweatier than riding outdoors because there is no wind to evaporate the sweat. There is a reason this exists.

I have a sweat net. But I'm so damn busy wiping my face constanly.......

I am using a fan but I usually only turn it to 1. It has three speeds. Box fan on floor at angle.

More cowbell perhaps?

How Sweat Works | Bicycling

Maybe I am doing it right and I'm just still on the "unfit" side of things.

Some people just sweat more than others. Nothing to do with being fit or unfit. Riding behind an ultra rider friend of mine, sometimes I think it's raining. But it's not.

Riding indoors isn't natural. Get outside already, it's warming up.

It is definitely warming up here, but all that means for the next month is that the snowbanks are melting across the roads during the day and freezing into sheets of ice overnight. Indoor cycling season will continue for a few weeks for those who can't find one of their XC ski boots.

I remember reading a story about a study that found that the fitter the athlete, the earlier and more they started sweating. The hypothalmus recognizes the increase in breathing/pulse/bp, realizes it as go-time, and opens the valves.

doubtful you can change your body. how old are you? is this the only instance where this is any issue for you?

everyone doesn't sweat the same. there's also a condition called hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and even in that category, there are different levels. my daughter seats a lot with exercise ( I consider it normal), y son does not sweat and we always have to keep an eye on him that he doesn't get heat stroke. wifey says she sweats but I never see her wet from it.

I live with hyperhidrosis (low to moderate) and it affects my life considerably professional and socially. I have all manner of techniques to deal with it. it's a drag

I sweat at the gym and I bring a towel, I also wear thin lined trishorts at the gym under gym shorts to help control the moisture so I'm not mopping down the equipment. I also wear a shirt liner (tshirt) under my gym shirt

that's the gym, not a big deal, but personal and professional situations are even trickier for me and takes a lot of planning. my ignorant mother in law just laughs at me. the b*t*h

I rusted my (quill) stem bolt in the few weeks I was stuck inside on doctor's orders after surgery on my leg.

Cyclists are 20-25% metabolically efficient, which means 200W out is producing 600-800W of heat. With still air you're sitting in a personal sauna and going to get wet.

Get a big fan.

That reminds me: I tend to gunk up the rear brake cable because sweat runs down into the cable stop under the top tube. Make sure to keep an eye on that, maybe squirt in some WD40 occasionally.

Some people sweat more and others sweat less. If you sweat profusely, just make sure you hydrate profusely (fluids and electrolytes) to compensate.

Put the bike trainers in the garage and start pedaling. When everybody's warmed up, use the garage door opener.

I sweat more than the other ladies I ride with and more than many of the men.
On hot dry days, sunshine reflects on all the dried-on salty sweat crystals on my skin and I look as if I had been dipped in sparkly pixie dust.

It can be challenging to balance between getting sick from dehydration -vs- getting that sick sloshy feeling of too much water.

Yeah, I don't think the OP has anything to worry about, as it sounds normal to me. I sweat like that on the stationary, too. I guess I tend to sweat a lot; I wear an undershirt to avoid sweating through my clothes when it's warm out.

Hyperhidrosis, as noted above, is something else, and you'd know it if you had it. My business partner launched the effective MiraDry treatment in the U.S., and although he's not there anymore, I've heard stories about people saying it really improved their quality of life.

Stop sweating = overheat = die

It is a key adaptation that helps our species maintain homeostasis, and still be active in the heat. Our exceptional ability to sweat from our whole bodies gives our species exceptional cooling ability, which underlies our capacity for endurance.

I was once walking around at 38°C degrees under the direct sun for three hours with zero sweating - not even a drop. It was dry air and pretty strong wind that removed all the sweat before it managed to collect on my skin. The indoor environment--no wind, high moisture and too high temperature--may make you sweat a lot.

Excessive sweating is when you sweat at rest, during the night or during mild exercise. Here's a list of causes.

The OP describes me perfectly. I generally look like I got back from the swimming pool after a good trainer ride. It also happens outdoors if I ride in places more humid than Colorado. I will say though that keeping the basement cooler (around 60-63) and having two industrial fans on both sides helps limit the insanity of it.
