mounting a 2nd & maybe 3rd h2o bottle
Hi
Because my road bike is "small" there is no 2nd water cage mounted. I can't drill holes as it will void the warranty.
I posted over at the General Cycling forum, and it was suggested I post here for feedback.
Particularly I would like any suggestions on brands that have pretty stable behind the saddle mounts for holding a water bottle such that it will not fall or spill out. It would be an extra plus to be able to fit my current saddle bag, or some way to also hold the tire tubes, repair items etc. on the back.
And if there are any other suggestions aside from the behind the saddle, please let me know. I don't have the lightest carbon bike, so extreme light weight is not an issue, and being able to spend less $$ would be great.
Thanks!

Profile design L mount double rear, 60-80 new here's one for 30 Profile Design Rear Mount Dual Water Bottle Cage Saddle Rail Mount White | eBay
Other than that, I like using my camelbak 2L (on the go podium refils) it gives some extra gravity when climbing out the saddle, holds extra tube and all that goodness

This is not a seatpost mount, but instead a very light weight way to add a mount onto your downtube or seatpost. Maybe you have room on those tubes. Don't know. Elite VIP Universal Cage Mount 22-50mm
Here is a link on Amazon. I used two of these to mount bottle cages on a 1970s sports touring bike. This system works on old style small tubes or modern huge tubes. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00

A very cheap & easy way for a seat tube bottle is to get 2 hose clamps from Home Depot or Lowes (under $3.00) and just clamp on a bottle cage. My old Raleigh only has one set of braze-on's so I added a 2nd on the seat tube. I can take it off for winter riding and I put electrical tape under the clamp so as not to scratch the paint.

Thanks all for the replies. I have the camelback 1.5L backpack. It has worked fine for me. Since I have gotten better at being more confident and grabbing the water bottle from the cage and putting it back, I was hoping to have to use it less, especially on shorter rides.
How did you attach the cage? when you put the tape then hose clamp on, do you nail the bottle cage through one of the slits in the hose clamp, then tighten the clamp to the tube? Have you had any problems with the water bottle falling out while riding? Do you think this would work OK if I mounted under the down tube (where most larger size bikes have the 2nd cage mount, unlike mine which is small)?
Below is some summary research I have (that I posted in my original thread in the general cycling discussion)
Thanks again for the replies.
I just added 2 pictures of my bike into the first post. Because it is a smaller size, they did not add the second cage mount option :I
I was thinking, if I get the behind the saddle type, to go for one that holds 2 bottles since I would already be spending the money and installing it. But at the same time, don't want to have the water bottle eject or falling out problem.
The brands so far suggested between here and in the tri thread:
xlabs - mostly good reviews but $$ about $50-75 to get one of the wing series that holds 2 bottles. I read a review that said you need the gorilla water bottle holders installed as those are the better ones that done have the eject problem, but those are also expensive
elite skekane - $40 ish - mixed reviews, you put your own bottle holder on it
tacx - mixed reviews, takes work $23, can hold 2 bottles
Minoura - $16, can attach 2 cages, Generally OK reviews, some saying they have had bottles fall or fly out.
Profile Design - RML $50 already has 2 cages on it, reviews OK
For the option of clamping under the tube (where non-small bikes do have a water cage mount)
Two Fish - $17 generally good reviews
Elite Universal cage mount - $11 - mixed reviews
Hose Clamp $1.50 for each, and in the tri thread, suggestion using electrical tape to protect the finish on the bike when using these
Maybe I can go ahead with the hose clamp idea for now since it seems to do the job. Then whichever of the saddle options (based on feedback) have the least chance of bottle ejection, get the one out of those that costs the least.
