Newbie Question - when do you put on your number belt?

In T1 or in T2?

T1, with the number facing back. T2, pull number around so its facing front.

It's been a while, but when I did them it was not required on the bike so I didn't wear it (usually had to wire-tie a number to the bike frame and put a sticker on the helmet). If that is what the rules say, I would wear it only after T2.

One time I forgot to put it on for the run, and had to go back into the transition area before finishing. That was a little embarrassing.

Aquagirl...this is probably too late as my guess is you just finished Carlsbad...but I put mine on in T2. Let us know how the event went.

a trick from an old boyfriend: put the race belt on before your race under your wetsuit.

If you put the number in front and wrap it around the belt it will not break aero profile. You can simply unwrap it on the run. Saves some time in transition and its one less thing to screw up when it feels like you're going to pass out getting off the bike.
