Breakaway zipper

The Quintana Roo wetsuit comes with a Breakaway zipper. Does anyone out there have an opinion on how well these work? It seems like they would open prematurely or break down over time.

I have the Ulrafull wetsuit and the Breakaway zipper works great so far, although I have only used it once. My only suggestion is to try it out before using in competition. It took me and my assistant a few minutes worth of trying to figure it out. It does seem pretty sturdy, so I wouyldn't worry too much about wear. Also, I am told by QR that it will never come undone during swimming, unless someone pulls at the draw cord very hard.

I dunno.... I am fine in my Orca, but I have never seen that zipper type in action. Only ever heard about it. Some more feedback about it would be nice. Anyone used it for a couple races?

I had a roomate with a handful of wetsuits (racing pro) that loved the breakaway thing. It sure beats the opposite (zipperless, labrum destroying 2 pieces).

Hey guys. I know this thread is forever old, but I just picked up a QR Ultrafull wetsuit without the breakaway zipper. I got it on clearance I think a pretty fair deal ($150 including taxes) but I'm wondering if I'm missing out big w/o the breakaway zipper. Could someone describe to me what this means exactly? I could not really tell by looking between the 2 wetsuits, one with and one without, what the difference was. Just another thought, I am 6'2 160 and could not get the Medium-small (which by their chart should have fit me perfectly) past my hips.
