Fit - Knee positions

When getting your tri/tt bike set up, do you maintain "knee over pedals spindle" (KOPS)? It would seem to me that you really can't without severely compressing your hip angle. I would think that the knee would come forward.

Most dedicated tri-bikes are set up with steep seatpost angles (usually no slacker than 76 degrees or so) to position the rider much further forward. I'm a roadie turned triathlete so I'm used to KOPS on my road bike, but my tri-bike (Felt S25) has a steep seatpost and I ride it with my saddle pushed forward almost as far as it can be on the post.

For me, the benefits of riding steep are: 1) I can apply a greater amount of sustained power in this position (though the power peaks in this position are lower than using KOPS), and 2) My legs seem to be fresher on the run. My bars are really low, so as you mentioned, I would compress my hip angle too much if I used a KOPS position on the Felt.
