Good Beginner Bike

Hey,
I have just started getting into triathlons and was interested a entry level bike, that would last me for a while. I have looked at craigslist.com, but nothing much came up. I was interested for opinions on a good bike that is somewhere under $700, either new or used. Thanks!

ebay has lots of used tri bikes, find a couple of models that interest you and do your homework, great deals can be had as well as lots of junk

Sidon86, when I started I just put aerobars on my roadbike, because I wasn't sure I would stick with it. I am now very commited to doing tris. I am not doing one every week, but looking to do four or five a year. So this past winter I picked up a used tri frame on eBay and built it up almost entirely with parts I had lying around.

So, I would say that if this is your first bike go for a good used road bike. For $700 you could probably find something two or three years old that sold for $1200 new. That will last you a while and if you decide tris and riding isn't for you then you could sell it and get most of your money back. If you have a road bike and want a tri bike, then I would suggest looking at Felts, they do not have a $700 tri bike, but noone does. However, you should be able to find a S32 that's a few year's old for near that. Lastly, if you want a new road bike, you should be able to find lots of bikes in that range. A good place to start is the Felt F90. I think it stickers at $699.

Thanks

Yeah-ebay seems the way to go. I've been looking at several cheap Felt F35 there. Thank you for the input!
