Use them as training wheels. Kysriums never score highly for aerodynamics in the Tour aero wheel tests.

I'd like to play too.

Here is my pride and joy....filthy dirty but fast. I am a newbee....only 2 years biking. Got a wild hair to build one of these and looked for used parts on eBay all last winter....got it running by this spring. Remeber Johnny Cash's song about the used car...."I got it one piece at a time, and it didn't cost me a dime (this one did cost a real dime)....". It will see it's first sprint race in 3 weeks.

It's true....it'd be cheaper to probably go and buy a brand name machine...but then I wouldn't have had the pleasure of learning how all this stuff fits together.

Used BP Stealth frame/fork off eBay
New BP Stealth aero seat post
Used Specialized bars....eBay
new Aero bars by "I forgot who"
Used Axis stem....eBay
New Ultegra crank set
New Dura-Ace 10 speed bar-end shifters
New Ultegra front/rear derailers
Used wheels...eBay
Used tires....eBay
used Ultegra 10-speed cassette....eBay
new Ultegra chain
Used shimano SPD pedals...eBay
new performance brake levers
used Ultegra brakes....eBay
my old used Specialized seat
all cables/housings/other small parts by "Loose Screws"

Working on lowering the bars as I get used to pedaling in the tuck. It ain't pretty, but it's all about faster...not prettier. It feels like a rocket!

This was fun enough that I might try build the wife a real classy tri ride this next winter.

I posted these pics when I got my P3C a few weeks back. She has about 150 miles on her so far. I'm splitting training time between the Tri-bike and Road bike(Orca).

I have changed the stem since the pics were taken from a 10 degree rise to a flatter 6 degree and have raised the saddle about 1/4 of an inch. I train on Mavic cosmic elites with ultegra cassette. The 1.5lb lighter 808's with DA cassette will finally get time on the road this weekend at the Solana Beach Duathlon............

Happy Riding all.............

Hey Burns, Can I please have your bike? I know this is not the pay it forward thread but I am a college student in need. Come on, hook a brother up.

Just kidding. Rad ride my friend. How do you like the 808 in front? Does it catch side winds much? I had a Blackwell 100 on the front of mine and sold it due to the fact that it threw me all over the place in the slightest of crosswinds.

OK... you can have it. Since we're kidding and all

Nah, the bike has its good points but it has it's bad as well. In a straight line it's fast and since they're 650c wheels, it's kinda twitchy. I do not recommend this bike for hills and sprinting though, the bottom bracket just moves around way too much. Finding replacement parts for it is getting to be very difficult too. I'm thinking about retiring the frame and finding a newer up to date frame. I will keep it forever though. I bought it brand new in '93 (funny story that my very first loan was for a bike... the bank thought I meant Motorcycle! lol!!!) and will probably find a way to mount it on a wall in my house as classic art. But then again... maybe not. Thank you for the compliments, none the less.

That's hilarious my friend. I see those on ebay from time to time but they are still so expensive for an older frameset. Super duper proprietary though. I wonder why the design didn't take. It looks to be fairly minimal, like the TitanFlex. So I'll arrange shipping for the bike, you just have her packed up and ready to go. heh...heh...

Okay... I'll send it out. I will forwarn you though that most everything that I send out, gets sent back to me. The shipping companies don't like it when I wrap the bike in papertowels and use crayons for writing the address. So until I find out a better way to ship, I'll have to wait on send you the bike. You might be better off getting another bike while you wait. It could be a while.

Here's a quick picture of two Griffen's belonging to my wife and I. Great to ride - stiff and smooth thanks to the boron carbide / aluminum materials. And the customer service from the company is excellent - lifetime warranty on the frames and ability to return for factory re-painting at a great price.

Cheers,
Bryan

Ok, so I've finally got my bike in a condition where I feel ready to show it to the world in picture form (i.e. not just at a race :-P)

I love it!

You wouldn't be able to compare the XLab's handling characteristics to a HED.3 would ya? always been curious about it.

New this year but I'm sending her down the road. Work related shoulder injury make riding in aero position just about imposible. It's for sale.

Sorry What no can do. I can tell you the Xlab weighs a wopping 1220 grams and is very stiff and strong. i had to ride over a big pot hole and not a scrath or dent in the rim. Cant say the same for the front.
