The paint job is home made, too. Primary requirements are a good HVLP spray gun, good paints, and the stupidity to actually try it.

I know its essentially pointless to be too focussed on material possessions and toys but..........a quick trip through this thread from time to time is very good for ones spirit. Bikes are cool. Thanks everyone.

My NEW 2011 Felt 22

So....

I sold my tri bike and was looking for something better....then i saw her, got on her and had her fitted....

I am 5'10 almost 5'11....i flirt with the 200lb marker sometimes i go over, other times i am about 15lbs under....so i decided to go Alumminum, instead of Carbon.

I added an xlab hydration system, behind the seat, and a cateye computer. Came with Ultegra rear & front derailers.....may be switching the crank and brakes as well....so far, i love it....in comparison to my old orbea, it is AMAZING!

Spinal, get yourself some spinal flexibilty and drop a few spacers/flip the stem. That´ll get you more speed than a new set of wheels (although I would get a wheelcover for the rear anyway).
Beautiful bike, enjoy it. I´m hugely jealous, I love those Felts.

Thanks Barchettaman.....I am reasonably new to this tri bike business so I have no idea what spacers/flip stem is....sorry...I am sure if I ask LBS they can tell me, but if you or anyone reading this can let me know I would appreciate it...are they expensive? thanks....I have to look into the wheel cover more, because i did check online but did not see too many people selling them other than the 2000+ zipp wheeels.....but thanks for the info I will look into those spacers...once I learn what they are lol

I am reasonably new to this tri bike business so I have no idea what spacers/flip stem is...
Front of the bike: top tube, head tube, down tube. At the top and bottom of the head tube are "caps". These caps, on old threaded headsets, held the fork on; on threadless headsets like yours, there is no "cap" but there are spacers that sit between the top of the head tube and the stem. It follows that the stem is the part that holds the handlebars.

A quick glance shows that you have...four! spacers which means your bars are pretty high. As you get more flexible and stronger, remove (rather, move) spacers so that the bars sit lower and your body is in a more aero position.

And unless you're just looking to throw around money, don't worry about wheels. Aerobars come first, always, which that beautiful Felt already has; an aero helmet comes next. After these two things, you would be a lot better off to go out on 20- and 40- minute intervals twice per week until next season before you drop any more coin on accessories.

Deadprex: Thanks for taking the time to explain that!! Got your advice, I, as well as my wallet are happy to hear it! aero helmet will be next, but nothing replaces hard training!

Blasphemy Deadprez012! Putting training ahead of bling...

I have a set of Simkin egg brakes on the way. Should reduce my CdA by 0.0027 - or ~11 seconds per 40 km

As already alluded to spinalrx. The rider accounts for ~2/3 of the total drag, so getting yourself more slippery will give you the biggest gains. But don't go too extreme getting lower in the front end - as you reach a point of diminishing returns (loosing the ability to generate power) and if too low you may not be able to ride the whole race in the aerobars thus wrecking all that good work at trying to be more aero.

As for wheels - a wheelbuilder cover has been tested in the wind tunnel to be pretty much as fast as a solid disc wheel, just without the cool wooshing sound.

https://lists.topica.com/lists/iBikeP...783&start=1751

Then pick up a second hand deeper front wheel, research which tyres and tubes reduce your rolling resistance https://biketechreview.com/tires/rolling-resistance - and of course train!

It going to happen

You can get clear film that sticks on your chainstay to protect it from further damage. A quick look on Google should come up with something, I have the same on my Cannondale and it does a good job of protecting against rubbing from the back of my shoe also.
