Good luck to them, and you if you sign up for next year. Do some recon and decide if you want to take on the challenge.

I'd love to race down there next year for my first IM, flattest bike course in the IM North America series!

I'm not sure if I actually will though, I'd want to be sure I could do sub-10 first...

Have fun, take lots of pictures and tell us how it was!

Wow, a sub 10....that is ambitious....podium worthy in all age groups.....(depends who shows up). That is why I love the 18-24 age group....you can podium on sub 12.

I will take what I can for pictures...I am going to try and liberate a camera from work to take some pics on.

Flat bikes courses arent always better. Flat means no uphills, but it also means no down hills. So that is 180km of sitting in your saddle grinding out(not ment to litteraly grind out, you should be spinning, but you know what I mean)

Not down here in Australia. Low 9's gets you on the podium if you are lucky!

In my age group 35-39 9:32 would have me off the podium this year. 9.16 in 30-34 would have you in 4th! And it's not a fast course either!!

Well that is why I love being young....I am 22. So the fast guys(save for one I have seen do a 9:12) does 12s plus, most finish in the 14-15 plus. I think it is one of the most non competitive age groups.

I just came back from watching a friend attempt his first IM in Panama City. The course was indeed very flat but windy as heck...! The weather was beautiful (50s-60s) and that probably helped a lot of people avoid dehydration/exhaustion.

BTW - my friend made it...with 25 minutes to midnight!

So how did your parents do? I think 2007 registration is now full. Did you sign up?

Oh eff ya I signed up.....My parents goal was to finish, and not be the last one(didnt want to be made a spectacle of for finishing last). Their ultimate goal was to finish in 15 hours....

Mom- 14:02
Dad- 14:03

I signed up, and my friend did too(he might be the youngest one to ever finish.(he will be 18 4 days before the race...)

I ended up lifegaurding for the swim. We pulled 9 people out of the water on jet skiis, 4 missed the cut off. One guy was really messed up, did CPR on him for over 40 minutes before taking him to the hospital, I was told he was revived at the hospital..

I am excited to be doing it.....and the worst part about it...I HAVE to buy a new bike to do it....so that means P3C......
