How many races do you run in a season.
I've done a few sprint tri's over the last few years. This year I'm taking it more serious with the goal of doing a half iron man at the end of the summer.
I'll be doing my first race in June, a sprint. I'm looking at some other races and was wondering how many races do most of you race in a season.

I did 2 last year just to get started. This year i've got 6 planned. I just did a duathlon last weekend, 4 sprint triathlons from april-june, and possibly one more sprint triathlon in september (or an olympic relay with my friends).

1st time, but very active. I have 4 races planned, from the odd length liberty to liberty (1ml swim, 91 bike, 10K run) and 3 olympics. Also a 1/2 marathon and some other runs planned.

I did the following last year:
Off road Sprint duathlon
One sprint duathlon
One sprint triathlon
Three 5k's, mostly as a tuneup for the multiport events.
One five miler race (running)
I did two cycling races, both crits. CAT 5, USCF. Big mistake - I got pulled in both.
I did two mountain bike races, Sport Class, 30-34 age group. The last one was in October, and I was tremendously out of shape. I only did it because it was an Alumni race for the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Assocation and it was a nice weekend away for me and the wife. I think I came in DFL out of five alumni.
This year, I am sticking solely with duathlon. I have:
One (1) off-road duathlon planned (same one as last year, in March)
Four or five sprint duathlons, starting in April, all the way through August
One Team Time Trial (cycling race- Beginning Of March)
Two (2) five milers
Three 5ks- again, these are training races for multisport, and they are all in the spring. After that, I save my legs for multisport
I think I am passing on the mountain bike races this year, but I wonbt be surprised if I get talked into doing one near the end of the year, just for laughs
And a partridge in a pair tree

This is my second year racing, and if all works out as planned, it'll be 2 sprint tri's, 2 olympics, the bike leg of an olympic, a sprint duathlon and my first ever century :-)
here's to a great season for all!

I did a sprint relay, 2 sprints and an Oly last year. First year of racing.
This year I'm planning 4-6 sprints and 2-3 Olympics.
I had so much fun racing last year there is no reason not to race more often. I'm not going to win, so I might as well have fun more often racing rather doing a bunch of training and only a few races.

Last year was my first year; I did one novice and three sprints. This year I'm aiming at about 6 races, mostly sprints with one or two olympics, starting early in the season. If things go well, then in the early autumn I'll aim at a half-Iron.

My 2006 was pretty packed up
Two sprints: Luray May, Yorktown June
One Olympic: Colonial Beach VA July
One Half Iron: Lake Anna Odyssey Half Iron
Three Marathons: Rock and Roll Arizona January, Shamrock in Virginia Beach March, Marine Corps in DC Oct
One half Marathon: Faquier Half Nov
One 5K: Mutt Strutt Nov
One 10K: Fodderstack April
This year it's:
Ironman Arizona in April
Fodderstack 10k 6 days after <----- Tradition I started :/
Little Pepper Sprint Tri June
Luray Sprint Aug
Reston Sprint Sept
Giant Acorn Sprint Oct
Maybe the Marine corps marathon again I dunno
This will be my third year (kinda the first year I only did one sprint and then trained for a marathon). I am just looking to finish the IM and after that get my speed back in the sprint tri's.

Last year I did my first sprint, the Breath of Life in Ventura. This year, doing that one again and two others (Oxnard and Malibu), as well as a century ride.

Past couple of years it's been around 6, generally 3 near the beginning of summer starting with duathlns and 3 near the end.
This year it's going to be +12. 6 near the beginning. 3 in the middle. 4 or so near the end and into fall. On top of that probably 5 or so running races.

I have only actually registered for one event so far but have more planned. I'm new at this and have my first sprint lined up for 6/3. I also plan to do one in July and two more in August and then cap off the year with an oly in September. I also am planning on running my first 5k on 3/18, a 5 miler in May and an 8k in June. On the cycling end I want to do another century and see if I can finally break 6 hours, closest for me has been 6 hours 5 minutes, and as always the MS 170. There are also some Wednesday night "Splash and Dashes" training races I might enter. I'm pretty fired up for my first season and have been loving the variety in training that a tri requires.

I haven't done a tri in 2 years.
though I've done several marathons and running races.
This year I'm focusing on a half ironman and I'm not sure what else.

There are like two places they run Splash and Dashes, the Marlton one I believe is run by DQ. The ones I want to do are the ones run by the Pine Barrens Tri club, same idea, same nights just closer to home by a little. It just sounded like a fun way to spend a Wednesday night in the summer and to break up the training routine.
