Tri shoe sizing

Do you go a size smaller with your tri shoes versus road shoes due to the lack of socks, or is the sock free liner in most of the shoes enough to order the same size for a given brand?

I am the same size for my Shimano R300's as I am for the TR02's. Diadora was the same. But, it would probably pay to try them on first if possible, because it may not be the same across the board due to different soles and lasts.

But generally, I would guess it to be very close.
