Tri Noob

First things first. I've never done a Tri of any length before.

I ride my bike 2-3 times/wk and avg about 40mi/ride.

I haven't swam in who knows how long and the most running i do is when i'm late for class.

Anyone have any good websites to check out or tips for training for a (sprint) triathlon?

I've got a few sprints and 1 oly close by next year that i'd love to try.

Teach me, show me your wisdom and post some websites.

Also, in T1 and T2 do most people completely change clothes or mainly just shoes? I know there are tri specific shorts and such but is it a issue to swim and run in bike shorts?

www.beginnertriathlete.com is one of the best around.

There's no problem swimming and running in bike shorts as long as you're comfortable with it.

If you haven't swam in a loooong time, i'd say give yourself at least 2-3 months of regular swim training (3-4 times a week) before the event to make sure you can at least do the require distance. That's how long it took me to get back into swimming before my first one.

In transitions you usually just swap shoes, though depending on how cold it is, i'll take the time to put on some gloves or a long sleeve shirt and/or windbreaker.

I'm thinking about doing my first Tri after playing Director Sportif for my lady and her friend this weekend. I jumped in the pool and did 500 meters so I figure I'm ready now.

In the trannies, you'll swap shoes and grab some nutrition.
