Bar end shifters on a Tri Bike?

I'm getting geared up for Tri season but sold off my fastest bike last summer. I have a Jake the Snake with bar end shifters that I could use but I'm curious how much better off I'd be on a racing bike.

Will Bar end shifters on a Cross Bike (with slicks of course) screw with me that much in Tri world?

Not as bad in a tri as in a road race.

If you're racing with drop bars (and no aero bar clip-ons), you'd probably want to spend the whole time in the drops anyway, so it wouldn't be terribly difficult.

Might be a bit of a hassle with aero bars, but then so is shifting STI levers when you're riding in aero bars.

Moral of the story: Shouldn't matter too much.

Won't matter much at all if you are not striving for a podium finish. I use downtube friction shifters on my '69 Peugot U08 equiped with a vintage Scott aerobars. Not much of a hazzle in relatively flat tri's.
