Do you ... um ... drill holes in your shoes?
The downside of staying well-hydrated is all that water has to go somewhere. Nothing like really hitting your stride, only to find that your teeth are starting to float!
Now, it seems like if you're going to drill holes in your shoes, the link I hope to have listed below, wouldn't apply. Seems like soggy feet would be a lot better than a citation for indecent exposure. But what about leather saddles? What about wearing socks? Bike shorts?
The link also includes an instructive photograph (rear view, thankfully), for the visually-oriented.

Awesome.
I think i'm going to have to get some practice in... I really really really could've used this for my first triathlon 2 years ago.

Where in the world are we supposed to practice this?
Also, if you are in a race would you just drop off the back or leave a little room to your left and let it rip...

Common at Ironman distance races. Haven't tried it myself, just not anal enough about my time I guess. Most of the people I know that do it just stop pedaling with one leg down and just let it go in their shorts. When your done, grab your water bottle, hose yourself off and on you go. First rule for everyone else is never ride behind someone who is not pedaling. Hope this helps,
Cheers

Condoms
I've been thinking maybe I could use a condom, you know pee in it and then toss it... It seems a little uncomfotable in theory, but with practice... I found this was a pretty big problem at the NYC Tri as you are on the West Side Highway, there is practically no place to even go in the woods, just stone walls all the way, and then I couldn't find the john at the end. When I did, what a relief.
I like the suggestion of pee while biking and then washing yourself off afterwards. That makes sense. Maybe more than a condom.

I just go in the shorts and hose myself off. It's not a big deal. Your shorts are wet and stinky anyway.
