2nd Triathlon w/ pics :D
So this was my second triathlon and I finished in a very average time of 1:49:00.
800m swim - 16 min with some change
19 mile bike - 58 min with some change
4 mile run - 30 min with some change
I had an 8k run the day before which made me really sore. . However my transitions were pretty fast and smooth. I tried some new things such as using a race belt and have a gel. I don't really feel that the gel did anything but race belt helped amazingly. The bike was awesome as I didn't get passed save for one guy on a sweet tri bike and I averaged about 18.5 mph. Overall, I'm pretty happy but I can't wait to do a triathlon with fresh legs.

Congrats on your race.
If you had a decent dinner the night before and some breakfast before the race, you should have enough glycogen stored to last you 2 hours of racing. Gels and enery bars are more helpful for races 2 hours and longer.

The pool swim was...well, interesting. There were 8 50m lanes. Each individual swam forwards in one lane then back always staying to the right, then back at the x00m mark (1 full lap) you ducked under the line into the next lane. The good swimmers good do a flip turn and dolphin kick at an angle putting them in the right position but I couldn't do that at all. I prefer open water a lot more.

I've done both of the types mentioned above. The first three or four races of my season are all indoor swims because the water temperature is too cold outside.

Nice job. I'm especially impressed with your run time. That seems to be your best event.
