who's in Denver? I am!
I think this is my first post to the tri forum, so HI! I'm mostly a roadie, doing my first tri this year, and am psyched! I'll try to do some reading before I ask the standard stupid questions.
What I'm wondering is... can you recommend some good tri shops in/near denver (maybe as far as Boulder?) I'll be gearing up in the next couple weeks, and would love some recommendations on where to spend all my hard-earned bucks at.
thanks!

What kinds of stuff are you looking to spend money on? I bet you could go do a tri tomorrow without buying anything extra or special - especially if it is a short (sprint or olympic) distance race.

I'd like to get some tri shorts and another tri jersey- more comfortable than the gear I've got.
At some point I'd like to look into trading out my spd pedals (and mtb shoes I wear on my road bike), but I could do that at any bike shop. Might also look into some aero bars for the heck of it.

Have you thought about a one-piece suit for racing? I just wear regular cycling shorts when I ride & save the tri suit for race day. I wish I had a one piece, I find the two piece ones really ride up on my long torso (having hips doesn't help keep the top down either).

Wanted to get some tri shorts to make an easier transition during training from bike to run. Might see how that goes, and look into a one-piece if they aren't cutting it.

Oh yeah - the brick workouts. Honestly, I don't do them (don't tell anyone). You could also just ride from home - then when you get home, run in the house, change shorts & go for a run. The extra couple of minutes won't make much of a difference to how much it sucks to go from cycling to running.

bikesource is pretty good (at least, they seem well stocked). The one in Highlands Ranch/Littleton is the location I'm thinking of....

Full cycle, in Boulder, is supposed to be starting to stock more tri stuff. They''re making a big leap out to the track/tri community this year. Might want to give them a ring.
Oh, what tri are you doing? I just signed up for my first tri, the 5430 Sprint in Boulder in June.

You could tri Bicycle Village in Aurora. Occasionally their tri stuff (suits, shorts, wetsuits) goes on clearance and you can find great deals. But I think normally they're pretty pricey.
Bike Source does have a lot of tri-gear as well, but I haven't actually really looked at their merchandise so I don't know how expensive it is. I just buy my bike gear there.
I usually go to Big 5 Sporting goods(there's one on Colorado Blvd, a larger one in Aurora on Iliff, and another one in Highlands Ranch) for my swimming suits and running gear, because if you couldn't tell I'm really cheap

I got some great deals on running & some other gear at the Sports Authority on Colorado- they're having a huge clearance on a lot of winter AND spring stuff (last season's?)
