Hey, guys I'm very new to the sport and my first Tri is in May 2009. What I need to know is more about the transition area. I have read lots on how to improvement the speed through it but not what gear I will need for it. So far I think I need a mat or towel to lay my stuff out on. A water bowl to get the sand and dirt off my feet. Do I need a bike stand? Where can I get one? Should I get a Transition bag? I have all the stuff for swim,bike,run but I just looking for this area of transition. Thanks for the help!
You don't need a bike stand. They will have racks for your bike. The easiest way is to hang your bike off it by the seat, with the front wheel facing out.
A towel is a great idea. The water depends on where the tri is. I don't generally bring water, because it takes up quite a bit of space, and there likely won't be much room between the bikes.
You'll also need to set up your shoes (either just running shoes, or cycling and running), socks if you want them, your helmet, sunglasses (if you want them) and any other clothes you are planning on wearing. Keep in mind - the more clothes you put on/take off/change, the longer your transition time will be.
thanks that is what I need. kinda of tried of buying things. My first one is in May a 700m swim, 30k bike, 5 k run. My big one for my first year is at the end of June in FL is International 1.5k Swim, 40k Bike, 10k Run. I can't wait and thank again for the responce.
