Went swimming.....got sinus infection/clogging....does this happen to you

I got off my bottom and got in the pool on Monday, it was as expected...slow and really out of shape, but great to get in the water and I could do in at lunchtime. Win allround

Tues my sinuses started filing and I remembered the last time this happened was after I was working on kick turns last summer.....and swamped my sinuses. This time no kick turns.

This could just be coincedence...but?

Does this happen to anyone out there? What if any thing do you do to prevent/avoid?

thanks

I have never had a sinus infection because of swimming. I hope you have a better experience in the future.

I'm just speculating, but you could be having an allergic reaction to the pool chemicals.

I had a bad problem with a chlorine allergy when I was younger. Thankfully it seems that I've grown out of it for the most part.

if the pool wasn't properly maintained or the chlorine was low then there is a slight possibility you could have gotten a bug from the water. When I was much younger my aunt had a pool that was almost never maintained but being kids we didn't care if the water was slightly green and I remember being sick immediately afterward every time

When swimming you should always be exchanging air. When you are not inhaling you should be exhaling slowly. Get accustomed to this and you will have less problems with flip turns and water up your nose.
Swimming can lead to runny sinuses - for me it was pretty perpetual. Also, you are more prone to being sick due to the water removing so much of your mucuos.
It might be the pool, it might not.

I have had similar experiences. I don't think it is just the swimming but I do think that it can be a contributing factor. FWIW, use of a nettipot pretty keeps sinus infections away for me.

thanks for input.....

Triguy, I have heard from multiple people...I think I will have to give the nettipot a try
