You find my post to be a problem on a personel level? Forgive me, however I thought that Internet forums were for discusions. I have wondered about the practice of running in the street,so I hazard a guess that this would be the place to ask a simple question.

Dalai, on public roads, we are supposed to abide by local traffic laws. I live in the US.

If I were an editor, I would tell you that Missouri is spelled with two S's, and caelric has an r in it. Behoove has two O's, and abbreviation has two B's, and only two I's, not 3. But I am not, so I will just let you suffer in your ignorance.

Oh, and yes, your correct, MO is Missouri, not Montana, my mistake. Either way, the traffic laws for your state should be easy to find, and they most likely are quite similar to the ones I posted.

And I searched my state road rules and answered in fact they are is all that I was doing. I never implied you should follow my state laws...

You still haven't replied with an answer why cyclists are only allowed on the road if commuting?

people have posted laws from the USA that say that pedestrians should be to the left of the road, why do you chose to ignore those?

thank you for the entertaining thread. now the next time you see that runner apologize for being rude to him when he was doing the right thing because I'm sure you don't like it when drivers yell at you while doing the right thing on the bike.

wow we haven't had a thread like this in awhile, the guys post then ignores everything - everyone post to talk sh*t, EPIC FAIL!

anyways I ran with traffic and at night while carrying a flash light in one hand and scissors in the other(just in case some one needs a hair cut) I've never been hit but have been asked by the police to run with traffic.
there is hardly any traffic and there are bike lanes in a few spots but no sidewalks at all.

Missouri Statute 300.405 actually says that pedestrians on the roads to face oncoming traffic.

I always find it disturbing when one user group (in this case a cyclist) tells another user group they shouldn't use a resource that is everyones. Usually it's motorists vs. cyclists and now the first time a cyclist vs runners...

We have given valid reasons, we had provided examples where the behaviour is law. Yet chicharron has ignored all of this, so I'm now guessing this was just a poor attempt at a troll?

I suspect your MUPs are quite a bit more narrow than the one I use. I've never had an issue where a cyclist needed to stop. This path is probably one of the busiest in the US.

Well, here in Quebec, it is written in the traffic laws: (sorry for the lousy translation):

Art.: 453. Lorsqu'aucun trottoir ne borde une chaussée, un piéton doit circuler sur le bord de la chaussée et dans le sens contraire de la circulation des véhicules, en s'assurant qu'il peut le faire sans danger.

Which kinda translates as this:

When there is no sidewalk on the side of the pavement, a pedestrian must use the far side of the pavement and he must do so against (i.e sens contraire) car flow, and while being sure he can do so safely.

So, here, and as I live in a small town with only small towns around, people always walk on the side of the main roads, 'cause at some places it's the only way to go So, no problem about running there also (which I do...well... often )

If this thread were dead I'd move on, but wouldn't this be better housed in Advocacy & Safety? Because this post has nothing at all to do with tri training--if you're training for a tri, you either know and follow the rules of the road or don't care about them. Either case, this thread isn't helping any tri hopefuls. Mod?

That said, to the OP, why post this on BF at all? There are literally thousands of running forums across the net, and they would all have provided all the answers your question provoked...possibly with less searing evaluation of your (admittedly ignorant) delivery.

you might have missed it, but the OP appears to have been banned or had his account deleted. The most logical reason for posting it here is that he's already a cyclist, and was a member of this board. Instead of joining another board to ask one question, he asked it here.

I definitely prefer running in the middle of the road against traffic, although it's a bit more feasible at night. Sidewalks aren't as flat and a tripping hazard for me. I have to change my running technique for uneven sidewalks but run very efficiently on the road.
