should i gear up/
I am running/riding a tri in september... i currently ride my cyclocross bike with 36/46 compact crank. The course is 17 miles, goes out 4 miles, then has about 5 miles of mostly downhill sections (towards the river) usually downwind, then the course follows the same road back for 5 miles uphill... down the hills i top out about 33mph, ad can't spin my cranks any faster.
would it be worth while to gear up a bit for the event? i usually cruise about 20mph in group rides in the 3rd cog up on my 12-26 ( i shoot for 80rpm). Is it not worth going up if i can only push the big boy gears on downhills?
I say just complete the race and then you will know what you need to do...Get some race time first before making changes .
Start by capitalizing the letter I. Don't put too much thought into gearing as it is not important at this very moment. Just go out and have fun.
i don't think that highly of myself ...
