    what do i wear

hi, i am an ex-runner turned cyclist, and i wann do some tri's this spring and summer with some classmates and our school chaplin who is an experienced triathleate. i don't mind spending some money on a suit(nothing really fancy, under $100), but i wanna know if you wear the same suit throughout a race(i assume you don't change or anything, but i dunno about padding for cycling or no padding, etc...). any suggestions on suits? thanks!

I'm not exactly experienced but i have heard some very good things about the orca line up

    http://www.orca.co.nz/onlineshop_sel...41&page_id=100

there are other companies like sugoi but i'm not sure about them

some people still just use a shirt and speedo

There are several things out on the market that will suit (no pun intended) your needs. Yes, generally you want to wear the same base outfit for the whole race. This helps speed transition times. Obviously this would not include the wetsuit if you choose to wear one for the swim, which adds a little time at T1. Generally tri suits have just a thin chamois for the bike, rather than the full padding of regular cycling shorts....this is where the importance of a comfy saddle plays in...This also helps during the run.

Anyway, Orca is one possiblity, also try TYR, DeSoto Sports (DSS), Zoot Sports. Look on the web...some possible places: www.sportsbasement.com or www.trisports.com for example. REI is also starting to carry more of this stuff, although only in season.

Good luck. Watch out for the triathlon bug though...when it bites it gets you good.

If you're going to do a Sprint or Olympic length, I recommend finding a one-piece suit. DeSoto, Zoot, Loius Garneau, Orca all make good ones so find the one that you like the looks of (don't under-estimate the value of self-image when doing these events). If you'd rather go two piece, that's fine but wear the top during the swim becuase it's a real pain trying to get a dry shirt on a wet body. Also, get a race belt...it's much better than wearing your number during the swim.

Have fun, you're about to be addicted!
