Runner/Swimmer Triathlete

I was a triathlete before I took up serious running, but after about 9 months of hard run training and about 6 months of swim training, I feel like my biking skills are seriously lacking. During an average ride, I feel like I have the required cardio to keep going, but my legs just won't do it for me. My track running PB's are...

800m- 2:15.31
1500m- 4:49.xx
3000m- 10:55.xx

...and my swimming PBs are...

50 free- 33.51
100 free- 1:24.xx
200 free- 3:06.xx
50 fly- 35.61

Any advice that anybody has to offer about ANYTHING would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks all,

Cheers

Well I don't know what you are looking for....? But if you feel that your legs are not working for you on the bike, you might want to read up on cadence and gearing. Being in the right gear will do miracles for your bike speed and performance. I would also ask if you have been fit on your bike. If not looking up a local bike fitter, a basic fit should be around 80$ (not a hard number, just an area). You can get a more in depth fit, and spend more, but for now I would just say get a basic fit and see if you notice any difference.

Hope this is helpful!

Your run numbers are pretty good for those relatively short distances, but how long can you run. I'm not fast, but I can run for two hours straight without much problem.

If your legs won't keep going, it sounds to me you just need to work on your endurance. Slow down. Learn to ride longer. Once you build up your mileage, then you can worry about getting fast.

You can be the fastest person in the world, but if you can't complete the race distance then it doesn't matter.

Sounds like you need to start with bike specific strength training. To get fast on the bike requires squat and jump training. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDbTPswhCpc Cycling uses different muscles, time to start hitting them hard!

The swimming times show a significant drop off. The times for a decent high school swimmer might be

25 seconds for 50
55 for 100
2:05 for 200.

Judging from your running times I do not think the problem is cardio fitness. I'm betting you have decent (but not great) form and that when you get tired the form starts to go. Not sure of course butthe best guess I have online.
