    Rinny Carfrae

She was 14 minutes down after the bike section...and defended her title.

I am thinking the other women hope she retires soon....

She was four minutes faster than Kienle in the run.

Absolutely awesome. Poetry in motion during the run. Looked like she was out for a Saturday training run and not the end of a tri.

Yep. Another record setting performance. She IS amazing! She's probably always going to struggle on the bike compared to some of the other top athletes so she could make things easier on herself if she got better in the swim. She was nearly 6 minutes down in the swim. Knock 3-4 minutes off the swim, bike the same, run the same and she's around 8:56 and all by herself.

I had the privilege of being in Kona this year. What an amazing day! The conditions were pretty brutal, as is often the case. The swim included some bigger swell. Our hotel room overlooks a small lagoon and beach, and the waves had flooded the beach and pushed all the lounge chairs around and piled them up against the back wall when we got up that morning. The age-groupers dealt with wind which was said to be the worse in 18 years. Most of them had a head wind going both ways! The elites got far enough along the bike route to miss much of the wind. Rinny looked just great when we watch her make the last turn onto Ali'i Drive. But, it was only Craig Alexander who looked like he was smiling!
